Carnegie Steel Buildings Case Studies: Polybags, Plastics Manufacturing

Our steel building case studies show future clients the diversity and scope of our steel building services. While some clients opt for our full suite of turnkey solutions, others choose single-aspect services — only installation, for example. This was the case with Polybags, plastics manufacturing. The client had two existing buildings with space to extend their commercial manufacturing storage facility.

The client had their own designers and architects to support the planning phase but opted to work with Carnegie Steel Buildings when it came to the construction phase of the project. We were awarded the project after a lengthy tendering process against four other companies. As such, the trajectory differed slightly from previous projects where clients used all services from start to end. For Polybags, we focused on quality construction alone.

Construction Work for Industrial Storage Facility Extension

We began the construction phase after meeting with the client, thoroughly studying the architectural designs and engineering plans, and obtaining council approval. This entailed extending the main building, altering an existing one, and recladding new materials to tie the three structures together.

The agreed timelines could not be met for this project due to delays in the industry as a result of the war in Europe, causing major disruption in the steel industry. We did our utmost to pull this project back on course, liaising with the client throughout the difficult time. During the construction phase, a Project and Site Manager were always on hand to ensure that everything went as smoothly as possible and that budgets were honoured. After construction, industrial waste removal and landscaping options were also available.
